Cashew is a kind of nut that grows mostly in Asia, but enjoys a fairly good representation throughout the world. Cashew is nearly always found (in markets) without its shell. One can conclude that the shell is too difficult for the average consumer to remove, but the reason has been seldom asked and even more rarely answered.
Cashew tastes okay. It has a sort of sweet flavor, but not much ‘dimension’. It’s slightly bland. Cashew often joins raisin in getting between eaters and the better parts of trail mix.
Cashew became an official snack on June 13th 2012.
