Chocolate syrup is simply chocolate in syrup form. It seems to be a very American creation, as its sympathetic to the spirit of taking things “over the top” (which is incidentally exactly where the syrup is normally applied).
Chocolate syrup tastes great, but it’s normally applied to things that already taste great, such as ice cream. A great use of chocolate syrup is to create chocolate milk. It is a fun treat for anyone interested in ‘drawing’ on their food with an edible ink.
