Pie crust is simply the container which holds pie filling. It has the authority of either covering its interior (offering a surprise, or perhaps, hiding flaws), or creating a type of circular ‘frame’ to enhance it.
Pie crust generally tastes good, and is sometimes enjoyed more than the filling that it envelops. Pie crust is often brushed with an egg–based ‘wash’ before it’s baked in order to create a golden color. Gold appeals to many people.
Pie Crust became an official snack on June 11th 2012.
