Although an uncreative name, sour cream delivers what it advertises. The inherent ‘sourness’ comes from adding bacteria to cream, and letting it go wild (within reason).
Sour cream is often used as a condiment for a variety of Mexican foods, and some more standard foods as well (baked potato). Occasionally, it’s used in desserts. Sour cream tastes good, but doesn’t appeal much to children.
Sour Cream became an official snack on May 24th 2012.
