Tamale is an ancient Mexican creation that consists of a prepared corn–based dough that’s wrapped in a corn husk. Tamale usually has something hidden inside of it, such as meat or cheese. Tamale is very popular throughout South America, as well as the United States (especially during the Christmas holiday).
Tamales taste great. It’s a very festive food which is fun to unwrap and consume. Tamale is often served with some kind of spicy salsa on top of it, but it’s not entirely necessary. The ‘surprise’ element makes tamale an exciting food.
Tamale became an official snack on May 25th 2012.
