Texas toast is just white bread that is cut extremely thick. The exact ratio is unknown, but as long as the width of the slice is less than its height, it is acceptable. Texas loves to make large things, which is why it made Texas toast; because no one else would have. It was invented in the neighborhood of Oak Cliff, which is also home to the first 7–Eleven® convenience store, which is incidentally also the largest of its respective category. The fact that Texas toast is generally composed of white bread is an eloquent reminder to the eater that they should dream big, no matter their obstacles.
Texas toast is an excellent choice of bread on a breakfast sandwich, and also works superbly when converted to French toast.
Texas Toast became an official snack on June 21st 2012.
