    tostada

A tostada is like a hard taco that didn’t get folded over. Mexican cuisine is spectacular, but the variations in their dishes are obviously a bit lazy and uninspired. Tostada is essentially the same as the burrito, taco, taco salad, and enchilada; It has all of the same ingredients. It’s a disc with the interior of a taco sitting atop it. Basically, an open–faced quesadilla, made of corn instead of flour.

    Taste
Tostada, unsurprisingly, tastes good. Unfortunately, since the toppings are unprotected, they can fall off of the fragile corn tortilla fairly easily. Although tostada sounds fun in principle, it sort of isn’t. It’s just an unweildy nacho.

tostada became an official snack on June 20th, 2012.
