Country gravy is a white gravy made from flour, trace amounts of meat, milk, and pepper. Its popular in the Southern United States, where it’s known to completely dominate nearly any dish by being poured on top of everything.
Country gravy is a very thick gravy which gives it a substantial integrity of flavor. It pairs best with biscuits, and nearly any food that is battered and fried. Country gravy would be significantly less exciting if it weren’t for the bits of black pepper which float around in it and create a strong visual contrast.
