Scotch egg is an ingenious British
creation that consists of a boiled egg
trapped within a casing of sausage
that has been covered in breadcrumbs
and deep–fried. The result looks like meatball
, with the intention to surprise someone. It has unfortunately (for the non–English) not traveled far.
Scotch egg is excellent. It’s a brilliant method of stuffing one food within another, with the added effect of the inner egg having a naturally–occurring food change within itself as well (the yolk within the white). Scotch egg is portable, but can perish quickly.
